Two courses that Howie will be giving live presentations at the American Academy of Ophthalmology conference in Chicago, both on Sunday October 2. I’ll be sticking around answering questions after both of them so come and say hi!
Starting your own solo practice in ophthalmology: why and how, session 430, 11:30-12:45 in room S106A. Just like last year, multiple folks from our google group who are already in solo practice plan to attend and share their different perspectives. We enjoyed the 90 minutes of questions after the presentation.
Personal finance for ophthalmologists: session 466, 3:45-5 also in room 106A. Come and learn not only about how you can manage your money on your own, but beat the cottage industry of “financial advisors” looking to take advantage of ophthalmologists.
It’s easier said than done, but if you save 20% of your income, invest in low cost index funds, stay the course (don’t sell when the market tanks and rebalance), and take advantage of every tax advantaged account there is, you can be a multimillionaire.
This does NOT mean speculating in meme stocks or bitcoin or whatever is hot on Reddit Wall Street bets!
Read the last part of this post I wrote right after the COVID stock market drop about how to handle situations like today’s inflation and economic contraction. It may seem new and different, but history repeats itself: the stock market will eventually go up again.
